Hans Christian Andersen attends the theatre

Hans Christian Andersen visited the theatre in Athens but was not particularly interested in operas. An Italian company presented a medley of Italian operas (including Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and the Thieving Magpie). Still, Andersen paid more attention to the spectators who flooded the theatre dressed in their traditional foustanellas.
