The Roman mosaic

In 1846, a mosaic of the Roman period came to light during tree-planting work in the Royal Garden. The mosaic included birds, vases, flowers, and ivy leaves. Amalia built a pavilion over the mosaic and created the famous “Garden Lounge”, where the royal couple took breakfast regularly, accompanied by a Bavarian orchestra playing melodies by Franz Strauss and Joseph Lanner.
