It is known as an urban legend in Xanthi (or a true fact?) that the famous French actress Sarah Bernhardt visited the city in the early 20th century. Among the many Athenian troupes, that of Marika Krevata came to the city in 1938, to present the operetta &#8220;Wedding Girls&#8221; by A. Sakellarios and D. Evaggelidis at the \u201cElysia\u201d cinema-theater.
