The nightingales
The Royal Garden grew in a barren piece of land on the city’s outskirts. The tireless efforts of Queen Amalia and her gardeners managed to create a small paradise and a leafy shelter in a city where light often invaded everything with a brutal intensity. The dense foliage of the trees protected countless nightingales whose song travelled far and wide and captivated the Athenians.
