The Interactive Experience Authoring Tool is a web-based application developed with technology from the Athena Research Center, designed to support creators through all stages of producing an interactive experience—without requiring advanced technical skills. The process begins with the creation of a script, which includes content descriptions, directorial guidelines, and a structural map that links different segments of the experience. Each part of the script is then connected to specific spatial points where the experience will unfold, and its presentation on the visitor’s mobile device is configured accordingly. The application offers full functionality for creating, editing, and publishing routes and groups of points of interest, allowing users to add titles, descriptions, coordinates, images, and audio clips to design personalized, location-based experiences.
In its final version, the tool was extended to support both outdoor and indoor environments through the integration of real-time location tracking (RTLS) technology using the SEWIO system. This enables accurate monitoring of visitor movement and dynamic triggering of multimedia content based on spatial positioning. Using REST and WebSocket APIs provided by RTLS Studio, the application responds fluidly to user navigation within the space. Built with Angular, Flask, and MongoDB, the tool provides a complete digital environment for crafting immersive, sound-driven narratives anchored in physical space.
