The old fighters

Many veteran fighters of the Greek Revolution retired to Athens to enjoy the final years of their lives. The Coffee House of the Fighters in Anavrytiriou Square was one of their favourite hangouts. The elderly fighters gathered there to reminisce about the war, comment on current events or confirm the prophecies of Agathangelos as they smoked their pipes and listened to the characteristic sounds of the hookah.
