Smoking hookah

In public, the Athenians usually smoked cigarettes without hesitation about where they would light them. Foreigners usually could afford to buy cigars imported from Malta or Trieste. Hookah was popular only in the infamous coffee houses around the marketplace, but the experienced smokers knew that the best ones were those used at least twenty times per day.
