The taxi stand with the horse-drawn carriages at the central square of Xanthi
During the interwar period in Xanthi’s central square there was a cabstand with the vehicles employed by the locals. At that time, alongside the dominant horse-drawn wagons, which had long served as the primary mode of transport, the first taxis began to appear. However, the coexistence of the two means of transportation occasionally led to conflicts, as the arrival of the modern car restricted the use of traditional wagons. Despite that, the economically weaker strata continued to use the wagon due to its cheaper fare.
